ResMan Nominated for Best Places to Work Multifamily Award

We’re honored to be among the top 50 national finalists for the 2020 Best Places to Work Multifamily® award, hosted by Multifamily Leadership. Each year, the national research and benchmarking program’s top 50 ranking recognizes those organizations who own, manage, and support multifamily apartment communities nationwide and who are making an impact in the world through employee engagement.

Resident satisfaction studies show that the level of engagement between employees and residents is the leading indicator for an organization’s success. This nomination plays to our core mission to enable multifamily staff to do their tasks more efficiently and engage more effectively with prospects and residents.

The multifamily industry contributes more than 3.5 billion-dollars to the U.S. economy annually and supports more than 17.4 million jobs. But its focus on people is what we love about it.

“We’re proud to see that some of our ResMan clients are finalists in the Best Place to Work list, as well.”, says our CMO, Christina Cravens. “Supporting their tireless efforts to provide quality multifamily housing, especially during this challenging year, is why we do what we do. Their success feels like our success.”

Meet Our November ResMan Rockstars

Ash, Software Developer II

Where did you grow up? Iowa

When did you join ResMan? April 2019

What do you love about your job? I love that I get to solve puzzles and find solutions that help our customers and make ResMan an even better product that it already is.

What is one ResMan product you wish you could have had when you lived in an apartment or, what is one ResMan product you wish you could have in your current apartment, and why? The Resident Portal. The resident to leasing office texting system makes it super easy to contact the office without having to wait on the phone or walk down in person and automatic payments are easy to set up and let go.

Since starting at ResMan, what is your favorite memory? I have so many! I especially love each time we launch a new product because everyone in the company celebrates and there’s this great sense of pride in what ResMan is and what we do, that you can tell everyone feels.

What is one thing you are most thankful for in 2020? My family, both near and far. 2020 has really encouraged me to seek out ways to better connect with them.

Liz, Solutions Engineer

Where did you grow up? Texas

When did you join ResMan? April Fools Day 2019

What do you love about your job? The people, being a part of evolving tech in the property management industry, contributing thoughts & intel towards product evolution, evaluating businesses and helping others realize potential ROI.

What is one ResMan product you wish you could have had when you lived in an apartment or, what is one ResMan product you wish you could have in your current apartment, and why? How about from when I worked in property management? Collections Accounts – I love the fact that it is an organized boardroom module right on the home screen, and could assist a property with recouping on a lot of losses prior to ever reaching a collections agency while helping former residents with debt repayment in house. I am always looking at ways a business could generate income, increase efficiency, and stop leakage without outsourcing too much.

Since starting at ResMan, what is your favorite memory? Flying to Minneapolis for current clients at a small user conference.

What is one thing you are most thankful for in 2020? The ability to be with and help support my little family in our endeavors.

Cassie, Customer Advocacy Partner

Where did you grow up? Oklahoma City, OK

When did you join ResMan? I worked as a Contract Employee for 6 months before officially joining the ResMan family in April, 2016

What do you love about your job? I love getting to meet new customers and building that relationship.

What is one ResMan product you wish you could have had when you lived in an apartment or, what is one ResMan product you wish you could have in your current apartment, and why? Since the day we released the product I have lamented over the fact that I missed out on the benefits of Credit Builder all the years of on-site management.

Since starting at ResMan, what is your favorite memory? In 2017 NAA was held in Atlanta. On top of getting the opportunity to meet many of our customers from around the country face to face, we had a roughly 4 hour period after the breakout sessions, before the big party. Myself and the product team spent the whole time goofing off, and holding exotic animals. I still have pictures saved to my favorites in my phone.

What is one thing you are most thankful for in 2020? This is going to sound crazy with the year we have all had, but it’s actually hard for me to pick one thing! This year I joined the Customer Advocacy Team, I got the opportunity to improve my Salesforce skills working with the Success team, and even through the pandemic I’ve still been able to keep my ResMan family close. I have a lot to be thankful for this year.

Austin, Channel Partner Specialist

Where did you grow up? Texas/California

When did you join ResMan? 6/1/2017

What do you love about your job? Taking the beast of technology under my thumb and forcing it to work for people.

What is one ResMan product you wish you could have had when you lived in an apartment or, what is one ResMan product you wish you could have in your current apartment, and why? Obviously Credit Builder. When I rented my first apartment I was fresh out of college, zero credit, and my deposit was massive.

Since starting at ResMan, what is your favorite memory? I have three. ResMan Christmas Party 2017, one Friday night in the office where Brandi stayed after work with me for 3 hours explaining other kinds of SQL joins on the whiteboard, PayLease/ResMan tech fest 2018.

What is one thing you are most thankful for in 2020? An agile company that can pivot with the economy. We survived a massive disaster in the US, not without scars and casualties, but I’m still here and you’re still here.

Abel, Onboarding Project Manager

What is one ResMan product you wish you could have had when you lived in an apartment or, what is one ResMan product you wish you could have in your current apartment, and why? When living in an apartment, I would love to have ResMan Leasing Pro.  The ability to electronically sign all leasing documents would have saved a lot of time.

Since starting at ResMan, what is your favorite memory? My favorite memory at ResMan would either being promoted to onboarding project manager or winning the ping pong tournament at the Christmas party.

What is one thing you are most thankful for in 2020? I am most thankful for my wife Jennifer, Finn my pup, and my family. After those, being alive, having a job, and still being able to travel.

So literally everything that ResMan offers would have been awesome: online payments, a resident portal… you name it, never had it 😂

Since starting at ResMan, what is your favorite memory?  When we were introduced, everyone was so welcoming. The energy that this organization has and constantly uses to build each other up is just fantastic.

What is one thing you are most thankful for in 2020? I am thankful to be able to work in a place that was so adaptable in a year that was so chaotic. Despite the craziness, it was filled with new opportunities to learn, grow and get to know lots of new people!

They are so innovative and modern and provide a seamless experience for the users. Having an easy to use website is key for tenants and prospective tenants.

Since starting at ResMan, what is your favorite memory?   Recently it was my birthday and the Business Operations team surprised me with a cake delivered to my house and a virtual meeting party. Everyone had their balloons Teams background and it felt very festive. It was a nice surprise especially when I was under the impression the meeting was in regards to something completely different 😊. It made my quarantine birthday feel even more special.

What is one thing you are most thankful for in 2020?  I am thankful for myself and my family being healthy. It sounds trivial but in a crazy year like 2020, it is certainly something to be thankful for.

Since starting at ResMan, what is your favorite memory? My favorite memory has to be making the Halloween video with my team. It was good to let go and have fun. Not take life too seriously. DAAYY – OH!!!

What is one thing you are most thankful for in 2020? I am thankful for my family, who always support me no matter what. I am thankful for my beautiful puppy who loves me unconditionally. I am thankful for my friends, especially my team, that keeps me laughing. And I am thankful to work for such an amazing company. Despite the tough times in 2020, I am very lucky for all that I have.

The Interactive Floor Plan Browser Tool (IFPB), it would have helped a lot during my apartment search to see which/where units were available.

Since starting at ResMan, what is your favorite memory? Our recent Halloween contest, it was a trip to recreate the Beetlejuice “Day-O” scene with the team.

What is one thing you are most thankful for in 2020? I’m thankful that it’s almost over, crossing fingers for a better 2021! But in all seriousness, I’m grateful for the family time, and as a puppy parent of 2, this year was nice to spend it at home with them.

In high school, we had a big group costume effort: my brother was the president, and the rest of us were his entourage: the vice president, secret service, and I, decked out in my flight suit was the pilot of Air Force One, arguably the most important costume. Here at ResMan, my favorite Halloween costume was when I dressed up as The Target Lady from Saturday Night Live. “Hey Pat Sajak, I’ll solve the puzzle!”

ResMan Announces the Multifamily Industry’s Only AI-Powered ADA Compliance Website Solution; Automatic Adherence to All Regulations Without Compromising Website Design

PLANO, TEXAS OCTOBER 26, 2020

ResMan®, a leading property management SaaS platform provider, today announced the availability of ResMan Accessibility Pro, the multifamily industries only AI-powered, automatic solution proven to ensure complete compliance with domestic and international regulations including WCAG 2.1, ADA, and 508. The solution applies machine-learning to scan, analyze, and modify a website’s code and behavior to match each user’s needs. ResMan Accessibility Pro is integrated with ResMan Website Pro and Premium subscription plans and is customizable to any website design.

July of 2020 marked the 30th anniversary of the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA). With websites included under that act, not just physical spaces, critical businesses are compliant with the rules or face significant financial consequences. In 2019, there were 11,053 web accessibility suits filed in federal court, an 8.8 percent increase from 2018. In one such class-action lawsuit, Harvard University had to pay the Class Counsel $1,575,000 in attorney fees and expenses alone, not inclusive of the settlement to plaintiffs . Businesses are required to include video captions for those with poor vision, keyboard-based navigation for those unable to use a mouse, text alternatives for images that are compatible with text-to-speech software, color palette changes to make links and navigation easier for color-blind individuals to navigate, and more.

“With Accessibility Pro, property managers no longer need to worry if their website is compliant. It’s designed to allow all of the 56 million people in the United States and over one billion people worldwide who have a disability to get the information they need, in the way they need to receive it, without compromising the website’s design. It’s easy, and it’s automatic,” said Paul Bridgewater, CEO, ResMan.

“In a very litigious world, even the best-intentioned businesses can be targeted for a quick payday. I’ve seen more and more lawsuits regarding ADA compliance, and businesses aren’t sure how to respond. Having a tool like ResMan Accessibility Pro on the site gives me ease of mind so I can focus on the day to day tasks and how to maximize occupancy,” said a representative from First Choice Management Group.

Accessibility Pro’s AI technology analyzes each ResMan platform managed website to visually match the site’s elements to the context of millions of other website designs, learning each piece’s purpose. The system then automatically ensures compliance by updating the site to regulation standards. For example, Accessibility Pro scans all images to extract the embedded text using OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and provides an elaborate alternative text to benefit a blind user of the site. The program re-scans every page of every site, ensuring new updates are being remediated to compliance instantly.

For more information about Accessibility Pro, ResMan is hosting a webinar on November 6th at 2 pm CT: Marketing Experiences for the Virtual Leasing Office. Attendees will learn how innovative property management companies use branded marketing experiences coupled with ADA compliance tools to turn renters into residents effortlessly. The agenda will also include how to drive more traffic to websites, as well as the tools needed for a virtual leasing office and marketing recommendations to make properties stand apart. Register here.

“ResMan has never been more relevant to our growing base of conventional, affordable and commercial property management customers and partners, and the way we are executing shows the winning mentality, expanding commitment to our customers, and a strong ResMan culture. We could not be more enthusiastic about having Mike join our team.”

Let Us Be Your Compliance Experts: ResMan’s Affordable Expertise at Your Fingertips

As anyone who works in affordable housing can attest, it’s complex. The property managers and owners who do so are passionate about helping low-income families. They must constantly jump through critical, evolving compliance hoops, and they do so for some of the lowest compensation levels in the business. No matter how big or small, every property management company is at risk for compliance lawsuits.

No one needs more resources and support than the Affordable property manager. But as with any complex field, the support must come from those who know the complexities inside and out. We’re proud of ResMan’s Affordable solution, but it wouldn’t be what it is without our team of affordable experts.

Together, these three members bring a combined 63 years of affordable and conventional experience and leadership to both our Affordable product and to our affordable housing clients. Their expertise (which continues to drive our Affordable product innovation) and their passion for the niche are a truly winning combination.

Meet Our 3 Affordable Experts

JANEL GANIM

Twenty two years ago, Janel Ganim found her way to affordable housing through two separate property management roles that included accounting and new software implementation. In 1998, she took a job with a property management software vendor, where she was asked to learn HUD.  She applied that knowledge for more than 13 years across Support, Quality Assurance, Business Analysis, and, finally, Director of Product Management, Affordable Housing.

During those years, Janel focused on affordable housing, becoming deeply involved with industry clients, NAHMA, HUD, tax credit industry events and pre-sales events. She holds NCHM Certified Occupancy Specialist and Tax Credit Specialist certifications.

For NAHMA, she vice-chaired and chaired the Affiliates committee, each for two years. A highlight of her affordable experience is being elected to the one Affiliate seat on the Board of Directors. She has served one year of her three-year term. For HUD, Janel has participated in several industry groups before industry roll-outs, co-chaired and sat on multiple groups, including co-writing the draft notice for electronic signatures and storage, her biggest industry impact to date.

New to ResMan since February of this year, Janel started in a business development role to focus on affordable housing thought leadership, the Product Development roadmap, and staying ahead of the market’s compliance needs. In April she was asked to oversee the Product team (Core, Affordable and Reporting products). She is currently focusing on budgeting product updates, a custom report writer, updates to our affordable housing waitlist, tightening up functions of existing features and improving our partners’ first 90 days with ResMan by collecting better data upfront during onboarding.

Janel recognizes that affordable property managers have greater challenges, responsibilities and liabilities than others, and often less training opportunities. “I love to create a great product that keeps site staff within intuitive compliance guardrails,” she says.

RUE FOX

Twenty three years ago, Rue worked at a property management company where she met her current Affordable coworker Janel and also leasing agent Elizabeth Francisco, who would go on to become ResMan’s founder.

In 1997, Rue moved to another property management software organization, where she spent 13 years in Sales and two years in Affordable Business Development. During this time, she received her affordable accreditations through NAHMA, traveling around the country meeting with reporting agencies, building credibility and trust, which resulted in deep, ongoing relationships within the industry. Affordable became Rue’s “home.”

With certifications in HUD Section 8 and Low Income Housing Tax Credits, Rue has chaired and participated in NAHMA committees for 20 years. She holds both a Certified Professional of Occupancy (CPO) and Specialist in Housing Credit Management (SHCM) designation.

Rue learned about ResMan through a few different sources, but when dragged to meet someone at a 2014 NAA show, who turned out to be none other than her former coworker Elizabeth Francisco who had launched the ResMan start-up, she knew she wanted to be a part of that team. She has served as the face of Affordable at ResMan since 2016. With 20 years in sales, she now leads as a Solution Engineer, learning the needs of the industry, presenting solutions within the product and delivering product feedback to Development. She and Elizabeth eventually persuaded Janel to join ResMan.

Rue has met many affordable housing managers and owner/agents, including a woman who had to walk her property with a shotgun, it was so unsafe. She is amazed at their love and commitment for serving low-income families, and it made her want to make their lives easier. “And I love how the affordable industry gives back, such as NAHMA’s annual college scholarship for a low-income college student of any age. We’re making a difference in people’s lives at every level. As for ResMan, it’s fun to take this fantastic product to market and get to hear people’s reactions and “wow” moments,” she says.

CORBIN du MONT

In 2001, Corbin du Mont graduated college with a major in Business Communications, a minor in Marketing, and no knowledge of affordable housing whatsoever. He fell into it in his first job, PAWA House of Florida, a leading training organization and HUD service bureau, where he found, to his surprise, that he loved working with subsidy programs. When the company was acquired by PMCS, he worked remotely in a supervisory role with 80-100 sites in his portfolio, remaining a total of five years. During this time, he received training with NAHMA and SAHMA. He later went on to a variety of affordable property management organizations, serving as both a conventional and HUD property manager and a HUD Compliance Officer and earning designations in Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS), Tax Credit Specialist (TCS), Certified Professional of Occupancy (CPO) and Rural Housing Development. He also received REAC certification/training through American Property Consultants.

“ResMan is my dream job,” he says. “After the vendor solution testing I’d done, I always wanted to work with a vendor in affordable housing.” He’s been with ResMan since 2017, serving as a Senior Business Analyst/Product Manager with a focus on the vouchering process and HUD. He brings his work with clients and the affordable industry to the ResMan product team with a view to staying ahead in the industry and leading the charge for affordable property managers.

“The jobs I’ve had really set me up well to understand how fundamentals in the background work and how to use that knowledge in creating what the affordable industry needs. ResMan was already a huge jump for affordable property managers, better than others, but it has grown into an even better product.” He’s especially proud of the automated TRACS messaging on the compliance dashboard, the special claims calculator, and the ease of certification workflows.

Meet Our September ResMan Rockstars

Evann Henderson, Software Developer I

Where did you grow up?  Lewisville, TX

When did you join ResMan? November 2019

How did you come to work at ResMan? I went to a web dev bootcamp and studied hard, then filled out ResMan’s application and passed the interview.

Since starting at ResMan, what is your favorite memory? Team lunches with the RLC team

What’s one thing that ResMan offers that you wish you had when you lived in an apartment? A responsive resident portal. My apartment’s portal takes 3 min to load.

September is National Self-Improvement Month. What do you do to better yourself? I try to keep myself busy by learning new skills. Right now I’m learning guitar and IoT, as well as improving my web development skills.

Corbin M. du Mont, COS, CPO, SCHM, Senior Business Analyst – Affordable HUD

Where did you grow up?  Tampa, FL.

When did you join ResMan?  April 2017

How did you come to work at ResMan?  Through Rue Fox. I’ve been in the Affordable Housing industry for almost 20 years, now specifically working with HUD project-based subsidy programs. ResMan was getting ready to launch their HUD portion of the program and needed someone familiar with the process. Through my connection with Rue, I was contacted to see if I was interested in the position. I had always wanted to work for a software vendor and this was a dream come true and a partnership I was excited about (still am 😊 )

Since starting at ResMan, what is your favorite memory?  I have a lot of favorite memories but being remote I would have to say during a TRACS meeting trip to Washington, D.C. back in 2018. A group of us grabbed an UBER to get to our restaurant. We had just left the meeting so it was late in the afternoon; cold and traffic was horrible. The poor UBER guy’s car started overheating and eventually died right in the middle of the street. We all felt bad and looked at each other like “Man, that stinks….” But then, we jumped out of the car only to grab another UBER literally a block away in order to get our scheduled dinner –  It was really funny at the time.

What’s one thing that ResMan offers that you wish you had when you lived in an apartment?  Well, I have never actually lived in an apartment before – I bought a house instead. However, while working in this industry for a long time, I can say I wish there was this type of technology back then.

September is National Self-Improvement Month. What do you do to better yourself? During the start of Covid, I decided to start walking/running each day to clear my mind. Then right after that ResMan started a walking challenge.  Since then, I have continued this routine each day. I have also made changes in my diet and lifestyle to maintain a healthier me! I lost 17 lbs initially and have been able to keep the weight off. For September, I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing 😊

Elizabeth Colina, VP of Marketing Solutions

Where did you grow up?  Miami, FL

When did you join ResMan? December 2019

How did you come to work at ResMan? ResMan acquired Razz Interactive, an agency that I cofounded.

Since starting at ResMan, what is your favorite memory? My favorite memory has been visiting the ResMan office, meeting everyone and feeling that the team we worked so hard to create would be merging with such amazing company.

What’s one thing that ResMan offers that you wish you had when you lived in an apartment? The IFPB, knowing what units are available and my full options were. Sometimes, leasing agents don’t tell you all your options. They just tell you what they feel is the best option for you. Having that transparency years ago would have helped me be more confident in my leasing decisions.

September is National Self-Improvement Month. What do you do to better yourself? I am trying to be a better parent during this pandemic by reminding myself that our children’s lives have been affected more than our own. The lack of social interaction and routine disruption has been monumental to their little/big worlds. Parents have become the only source of social interaction, learning and attention for them. Therefore, I am trying to be better at my time management and patience between work and our daughter’s life.

Cyndi Santos-Marvin, Customer Support Agent

Where did you grow up?  Okeechobee, Florida

When did you join ResMan? September 8, 2015  (5 years baby!)

How did you come to work at ResMan? Myself and a former co-worker both worked at a competitor.  She left, and about 2 months after she left, she called.  She knew my background and passion for training and said they were hiring.   I interviewed, and 2 weeks later here I am!

Since starting at ResMan, what is your favorite memory? In our old office building, we were all sitting on top of each other.  Everyone knew the blue carpet too well.  I don’t know why that place still gives me warm fuzzy feelings – covered parking, a deli downstairs, coffee bar downstairs, and nowhere to have meetings.  But I think it’s because it was the beginning of great things to come.

What’s one thing that ResMan offers that you wish you had when you lived in an apartment?  Well, it’s been a minute since I lived in an apartment, but the resident portal is awesome.

September is National Self-Improvement Month. What do you do to better yourself? Be as happy as I can be, make others around me feel good about themselves, and in turn make me feel better about myself.  (It’s a ResMom thing)

“ResMan has never been more relevant to our growing base of conventional, affordable and commercial property management customers and partners, and the way we are executing shows the winning mentality, expanding commitment to our customers, and a strong ResMan culture. We could not be more enthusiastic about having Mike join our team.”
Paul Bridgewater
Chief Executive Officer, ResMan

Justin Hayward, Sales Executive

Where did you grow up?   Sachse, Tx

When did you join ResMan?  November 2019

How did you come to work at ResMan?  I was looking for an opportunity to further develop my skills as a sales professional, and ResMan provided the best in class team/resources to help me accomplish my career goals. The company culture is unlike any team I have been apart of and that creates a fun environment to show up and work hard every day.

Since starting at ResMan, what is your favorite memory?  The office Christmas Party was a blast. They held a ping pong tournament in which I had made it to the finals yet sadly lost to a worthy opponent and coworker! Or my first big sale having the CEO and peers come by and personally congratulate me was a fun feeling!

What’s one thing that ResMan offers that you wish you had when you lived in an apartment?  I think the Credit Builder feature would have been huge for me as a young adult looking to build up my credit.

September is National Self-Improvement Month. What do you do to better yourself?   Lately, I have been challenging myself to read more books relating to sales and my profession to gain more insight from industry professionals.

Dana White, Implementation Project Manager

Where did you grow up?  Dallas, TX (Oak Cliff representin’)

When did you join ResMan? June

How did you come to work at ResMan? I was recruited by the one and only, Amanda Mabrey!

Since starting at ResMan, what is your favorite memory? Oh my! I have had so many great memories! And looking back – it’s more the feel-good vibes with people. You know you are in good hands at a company when within your first week you already have a secret handshake with your desk neighbor – looking at you Carwin Shaw!

What’s one thing that ResMan offers that you wish you had when you lived in an apartment? I think the ease of use of the resident portal is something I wish I would have had.

September is National Self-Improvement Month. What do you do to better yourself? I am a huge advocate for self-improvement. I try to always be cognizant and self-aware of myself mentally, physically, and spiritually. I remain open-minded to making adjustments and gaining different perspectives when necessary. After some trials and tribulations, personally and professionally, I think self-improvement is key to a quality life! We only get one!

Brad (Rockstar) Almond, Chief Financial Officer

Where did you grow up? All over with my favorites being Jakarta, Indonesia and New Orleans, Louisiana

When did you join ResMan? February 2020

How did you come to work at ResMan? I connected with Mainsail a few years ago and they were a private equity firm I wanted to work with.  They introduced me to ResMan and Paul and I loved the company culture, the product, and the market we are in.  It has been a great choice.

Since starting at ResMan, what is your favorite memory? The late-night scooter rides around the empty office and the technical obstacle course I set up.

What’s one thing that ResMan offers that you wish you had when you lived in an apartment? As a car/motorcycle nut, I always rented homes with garages back in my pre-home ownership days. I don’t miss the landlords banging on the door asking for rent and telling me they were not renting a junkyard so ACH payment would have been cool.

September is National Self-Improvement Month. What do you do to better yourself? I need to work on my poor French skill (or lack of skill) to get ready to stress test the ResMan work from anywhere policy as soon as France will let me back in.

Hannah Wood, Marketing Manager

Where did you grow up?  Houston, TX

When did you join ResMan? May 2018

How did you come to work at ResMan? Previous coworkers started working at ResMan in marketing and recruited me to come join the team!

Since starting at ResMan, what is your favorite memory? When everyone started working from home in March 2020, several groups of coworkers organized virtual happy hours and lunches for teams to stay connected and socialize during the lockdown. 6 months later, no matter how busy we are, I still meet with two of my closest coworkers/friends, Tammy and Jacob, every week.

What’s one thing that ResMan offers that you wish you had when you lived in an apartment? I still live in an apartment, so I love following everything we develop and release with our Resident Lifecycle products. Our 3D Virtual Tours would have come in handy when I was moving in May 2020.

September is National Self-Improvement Month. What do you do to better yourself? I get up early and workout before every workday! It always sets me up for a productive and focused day.
